A celebration of 20th- and 21st-century music honouring the legacy of composer Cristóbal Halffter.
BEFORE AND AFTER THE STORY OF
Held each October, the Cristóbal Halffter Contemporary Music Festival presents a programme of concerts and cultural activities dedicated to music from the 20th and 21st centuries. The festival is named after Cristóbal Halffter, one of Spain's most influential contemporary composers, who played a key role in shaping the event until his passing.
Alongside concerts by leading orchestras, ensembles and soloists, the programme includes world premieres, documentary screenings, audiovisual presentations, panel discussions, lectures and masterclasses.
Most performances take place in the outstanding auditorium of the Cristóbal Halffter Conservatory, while additional events are hosted in some of Ponferrada's most distinctive venues, including Río Selmo Hall, the city's museums, the Basilica of La Encina and La Térmica Cultural.
Most activities are free of charge or available at very affordable prices.
